Beginner Sessional Programs – LEARN TO DIVE

 

*NEW – SWIMGYM (4+ years old)

Combining the dryland skills and fun of Thunder Bay Diving Club’s Learn to Dive program with the aquatic skills needed to excel in the pool, SwimGym is a new program for young children ages 4+! Lessons will consist of 30 minutes of diving dryland training (tumbling, motor skill development, games) with a certified TBDC coach, followed by the 30 minute swimming lesson with the Canada Games Complex.

LITTLE DIPPER (5-8 years old)

Little Lightning DiverFrom Little Dipper to owning the podium! Join the program that provides the most variety and advantage that we can give to aspiring divers. Our sport is composed of many skills, and Little Dipper allows our youngest participants to develop the most ‘tools in the toolbox’ while having fun. This is our elite pathway for building all necessary disciplines in divers 5-8 years old. A 90 minute class is composed of acrobatic activities including jumping, tumbling and armstands; trampoline, dryboard, floor drills and stretching to build agility and muscle memory; and diving in the dive tank. 2 sessions per week or 1 Saturday morning session. Instructors focus on fun while developing coordination, strength, fitness, flexibility, posture, listening skills and concentration. Children under 6 wishing to enter the Li’l Lightning group will be considered after an evaluation by the Head Coach. Criteria might include swimming skill, coordination, and listening skills.

*Children need to be comfortable swimming the width of the pool.

BIG DIPPER (8-12 years old)
Learn to Dive

Our Big Dipper sessions are for active children who might be involved in other sports at the same time.  Our Big Dipper group is for ages 8-12, and our focus is providing them a challenging and fun environment where their skills can be developed. Dryland training will include diving movements on trampoline, dryboard & crashmat, as well as stretching. Big Dipper sessions are 60 minutes 2 days per week or 90 minutes either Friday night or Saturday morning.

*Children need to be comfortable swimming the width of the pool.

TEEN AND ADULT DIVE

If you’re over 12 years of age and want to get your ‘feet wet’ in the sport of diving please contact us and we will try our best to set up a program that suits your needs and skill level.

DIVING CAMPS

We regularly offer both March break and summer day camps which can be combined with the Adventurer’s Camp offered by the Canada Games Complex.
